Nebraska Unicameral Sovereignty Resolution

In January, 2010, Nebraska Senator Tony Fulton introduced LR-292. This resolution cites the 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution and reminds the federal government that it’s powers are limited. The 9thand 10th Amendments are the final Amendments of the Bill of Rights. The full text is:

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

In December, Sen. Fulton sat down with Patrick Tarr of Give Me Liberty TV to discuss the resolution, the Constitutional relationship between the states and the federal government, and how we can begin to restore the balance.

The first part of the new show is an interview by W.A. Mitchell with Oklahoma State Representative Charles Key. Rep. Key is the author of the State Sovereignty bill in Oklahoma, and he was in Lincoln to testify at the hearing on the Nebraska bill. The second part of the show is a speech delivered to state sovereignty supporters by Nebraska Sen. Tony Fulton at a banquet organized by Grass Roots in Nebraska.

    Very important work you, Sen. Fulton and other state leaders are doing. Federal power must be limited for we all know absolute power corrupts absolutely. The people who call this controversial or attempt to link it to racism are reminiscent of those who once kept the Jews inside the walls of ghettos. By discouraging anyone from examining and talking about the tenth amendment they are in essence saying “Who told you that you could stray outside of your political ghetto? Get back where you belong! I will dictate what your rights are”.

    To willingly side step the Constitution is nothing short of evil. We are all called to resist evil. Let no one tell Nebraskans or any other Americans that they are second class citizens. We do not exist for or at the whim of the Federal Government. The Federal Government exists for and by the people to serve. Maybe they have forgotten they bear the title “Civil Servants”.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for leaving your comment. These days charges of racism are made with such frequency and so little justification that they virtually lose their meaning. The Left is in the process of doing for racism what McCarthy did for Communism.
